The big tidal range is back this week. Strong morning fills — highs around 2.1–2.2 m between 10 AM and midday — give the reef plenty of cover early, so mornings are the window. But the lows drop hard late in the day: Saturday to Monday the tide drains to about 0.1 m around 5 PM, dangerously shallow to near-dry over reef. Surf the morning-to-midday push, and be off the reef by mid-afternoon. Surf within your level and protect your head.

The west-coast river mouth handles the lower tide better than the reef, but with this week's bigger range the late-afternoon drainers still thin it out. Best through the morning and early afternoon. West-coast clip to follow when the crew checks in.

When is the best time to surf in Bali?
The dry season, May to October, brings Bali's most consistent surf, and the biggest, most powerful swells typically arrive June through August — prime season for Uluwatu and Padang Padang. July and August are also Bali's windiest months, so surf early: mornings are cleanest before the trade winds pick up. Beginners often prefer the shoulder months (April–May and September–October) for smaller waves and thinner crowds.
