Dawn opens on a 0.8m low at 5AM, building all morning to a 2.7m high at 11AM, then draining hard through the afternoon to a 0.1m low at 6PM. Best window: the mid-to-late-morning push, roughly 9AM–1PM on the filling-to-full tide. The Kuta reef turns dangerously shallow from about 4PM on the drain — be off it well before sunset. Balian's river-mouth peak handles the tide swing better than the Kuta reef, but the same hard afternoon drain applies — surf the morning.
